To tackle disaster, this calls for preparedness protocol as well as preventive mechanisms that are coupled with recovery systems.

Technology has revolutionized the way disasters are handled at the organisational levels and even the individual’s level.In the last two decades mobile devices have become a way of life, using the communication platform to make life easier for millions of consumers around the globe. As such, it is no wonder that, the same platform has been used by software developers to make application that the consumers can use with respect to disaster management. To day the most common platform used by the mobile devices companies includes android, iOS, Blackberry and Symbian. There are applications that have been developed to help consumers and organisations to prevent or manage disasters when they happen. Using the internet, the devices can send and receive data in real-time. As such, disaster prediction, monitoring and management are improved as the decision making process is informed by real-time data (Heaton, 2013). Other than the mobile devices, there are websites that contain relevant information, furnished with policies, online disaster management training, prediction data, to customer care databases for these eventful moments. Individuals organisations and businesses are also able to store their sensitive data on secure online servers, away from any form loss or manipulation, which is commonly referred to as cloud computing.
