Generative AI Educational Resources

Use a generative AI tool (ex: Chat GPT, Scribe, or GitHub) to create an educational guide to teach a patient (individual, family member, or community) how to use an electronic resource such as a patient portal, mobile app, or web resource relevant to their care needs. You will select a specific lifespan to tailor your resource and guide to. Older adult ages 60 and up Adults aged 18-59 Children and teens ages 0-17 (educational guide may be geared toward the parent or guardian for needs of the minor).   Select a generative AI tool from the examples above or from your own experience. Enter the criteria you are assigned and your chosen resource/topic to have the tool generate information to use in your guide. Prompt the AI with a reading level appropriate to your intended audience. Also, change your prompt if you are not satisfied with the original response. You can train the AI to respond with your preferences.  Evaluate the information provided by the AI resource:   Is the information accurate? Review evidence from the literature outside of the AI provided resources. Refer to the Galen library and/or credible sources (i.e. sites with .gov, .edu, or .org suffixes) such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or National Institutes of Health to validate what is provided by the AI tool. Are the style and tone of the writing appropriate for the stakeholder? Check all of the references provided by the AI generator-do the links work? Is the information from that source accurately represented? This will be submitted as two files: one file is your educational infographic (pdf) or presentation (pdf); the other is an APA formatted paper (Word doc). Correct errors from the AI tool and use the information gathered to present to a member of the intended audience. Include steps and recommendations for using a specific electronic resource; appropriate simplicity or complexity for audience  Design principle (high points are bulleted; design is easy to read and appealing to the eye; PPT-5 slides or fewer; brochure format is correct; 1-page guide is 1-8.5x11 page)  Cite all resources correctly at the end of your guide. Include the AI tool, references provided by AI, and references used to validate and add to the AI results. Also include resources from the library and at least 2 outside scholarly sources. Seek out a friend, family member, or colleague who is representative of the intended audience and share the presentation or infographic with them. Request their feedback on the information's usefulness and the presentation format. APA Paper (1 page): Describe the information you gathered from the AI tool and any errors found as well as corrections made. Give a brief description of your intended audience (include demographic information such as age, education level, diagnosis, and living situation). Include the feedback you received from the person you shared the educational material with. Please include their name, age, contact information, and connection to you and your topic. Be sure to cite your generative AI tool as well as any other references used either by the generative tool or on your part to validate the information. What changes would need to be made to use the resource you created to use it with patients in each of the other 2 lifespans? Conclude your paper with a 2-3 paragraph reflection on the use of generative AI for this purpose. Were there significant errors in information quality? Was the tool easy to use? If a patient used an AI tool to find information to support their care, would they easily be able to differentiate between quality information and concerning or incorrect information? Are there areas where you can see yourself using generative AI tools in your work in the future?  Include a reference page citing the AI tool, resources provided by the AI tool, and outside resources to validate AI-generated information.
