Discussion questions: Central processing unit (CPU)

Essay Instructions:

please write a review on each if these discussions. please keep them separate. Discussion 1: The CPU is where most processing takes place. The processor is the most important, and most expensive part of a computer. RAM, or random access memory is a temporary holding area for data, application program instructions, and the operating system. It's important because it holds data waiting to be processed as well as instructions for processing the data. The amount of RAM on a computer affects its price. Capacitors hold the bits that represent the data. It is volatile which means that your computer needs to be on for it to stay on your computer. A power failure or turning off your computer will erase the RAM. This erasure is permanent. The amount of RAM you need on a computer depends on the software you intend to run on it and RAM can be added as needed. Hard disk technology is the preferred type of main storage for personal computers. It provides a lot of storage capacity. It provides fast access to files, and it is an economical form of storage. They are not as durable as other types of storage. It is magnetic storage and data stored this way can be inadvertently altered by dust, mold, heat and over time, lose their magnetic field which can result in lost data. Also, if the read-write head gets dust or a foreign substance on it, it can damage your data. Discussion 2: A Central Processing Unit, referred to in short as a CPU, is the hardware inside of a computer where most of the processing takes place. Inside of the device is a microprocessor which performs the tasks based on the data it receives. RAM, or random access memory, is the most common type of memory found in computers and other devices and can be accessed randomly. Inside the RAM are capacitors that represent data. The RAM temporarily holds data waiting to be processed as well as the instructions on how to process that data and the operating system. In order for most RAM to hold data, your computer needs to be turned on and stay on. This means that if your computer turns off or the battery dies, all data on the RAM will be permanently erased. This type of RAM is classified as dynamic RAM (DRAM). The amount of RAM on a computer affects the overall price and the RAM amount your computer needs depends on the software you use. You can add more RAM to your computer as it is needed Hard disk drives are the main storage device on most computers. The more platters the hard disk drive has, the more data storage capacity it has. While they also provide fast access to files and are not very expensive, they are not as durable as many other forms of storage. Magnetic fields, dust, mold and heat are just a few examples of how a hard disk can be unintentionally altered. Reliable life span of hard disk drives is estimated at three years as over time they lose their magnetic charge resulting in loss of data.

Discussion 1
The first paragraph which introduces the Central processing unit, CPU, is not well organized. The writer goes straight to the explanation of the CPU, with the use of the initials. A reader that does not understand firsthand what it is, will not understand, what the writer is referring to in the passage. However, the author gives enough information, to elaborate on the functions of the CPU and how it affects the computer including the price. However, there are other more expensive parts of a computer, like the graphics processing unit or the mother board.
In the second paragraph where the writer talks about the random access memory, he states the full name for the readers to understand. The functions of the RAM and the way it is affected by the various aspects of the power are well elaborated. There is also an explanation of the components that make up the RAM and the aspects of future maintenance.
The passage also illustrates quite clearly about the hard disk storage in terms of function...
