Volunteer Journal #3: Communication Name Institutional Affiliation Volunteer Journal #3: Communication Q1 One of the biggest communication challenges that I am facing at my volunteer position is that of interprofessional and intraprofessional collaboration and communication. It has clearly emerged that although the facility is keen on providing the best possible services, the organizational culture is one that inherently limits communication among the professionals across the organization. In this way, a barrier is created that hinders the seamless flow of information within the organization. At present, I am working on alleviating some of these impediments by actually serving as a bridge between various stakeholders and professionals within the organization by facilitating communication and collaboration. The IDEAL problem-solving approach has helped greatly in addressing this communication gap. Q2 In my personal life, I have encountered communication challenges numerous times. The most common, and also most profound seemed to stem around poor communication with my parents and siblings. In almost every instance, these communication challenges inevitably made the relationship worse. In hindsight, it is obviously apparent that many of these communication problems originated from the disregard of the other person’s point of view and a failure to actively listen to the other person.
