According to Shohini Chaudhuri (2014), the controlling gaze in film is always male. This means that people watching the film are always encouraged to relate with the look of the male hero and to make the heroine a passive object of erotic spectacle (Chaudhuri, 2014). This concept of the ‘male gaze’ is prevalent in numerous films and is especially pronounced in the 2006 movie The Lives of Others.
