Stage 1: Punishment Orientation and Obedience

At this stage, the child obeys rules which are established by persons with authority. In this scenario, the parents are the authority and the child obeys their rules failure to which they would suffer punishment from them (Martin, 2006). The child would therefore consider staying at home as affirmative and going to school as wrong as they would be punished since it is against the rules of the parents.

Stage 2: Exchanging of Favours(Relativist Orientation)

Relativist implies that everyone is free to go after his or her personal interests. In the scenario, the girl will consider going to school as this would satisfy her ambitions to gain knowledge rather than to stay at home and lose her interests (Kail & Cavanaugh, 2016). She therefore considers staying at home to be a wrong decision for her and she would rather be punished by the parents but pursue her ambitions. This is the reason why some girls from such families run away from home to hide where they can realize their dreams
