(2020), waste generation from his sector is a critical issue that needs to be addressed urgently. Recycling has been supported as one of the best practices in construction waste management. However, other alternatives have also been explored, including building renovation instead of demolishing them. Each alternative has a distinct outcome in terms of contributing to waste reduction. Therefore, there is a need to explore the effectiveness of each approach as it compares to others.
Aims, Objectives
This research aims to explore the possibilities and technologies in recycling materials and waste management in building and renovation. The first objective is to determine renovation is more sustainable than demolition in light of material recycling. The second objective focuses on the technological development and direction for designers and contractors to facilitate higher volumes of recycling. The third objective is to outline how high-rise buildings are demolished near residential or commercial centers. Waste removal sequences are covered in the fourth objective, while the fifth offers a judgment on whether recycled materials have similar lifespans as new ones.
Rationale and Scope
