One of the greatest philosophers that lived in the years between 428 and 347 B.C. called Plato came up with the theory that is commonly known as the Theory of Forms. In this theory he explains that there are archetypal forms, which basically exist outside of the material world that we live in and are unchanged although they interact with the changeable matter. This union produces the concepts and the objects that we can perceive. These ideas and forms are the essence of knowledge and though they cannot be seen they are real and can only be discerned using the mind’s eye. This explains why there are no two things that are the same despite the fact that they are the same. Such that, there are no two objects, for example tables, which are exactly the same.
