In the early months of 2020, the lockdown due to coronavirus became more pressing and human service organizations were required to adopt new ways of conducting business. Limited staffing and online conferencing became part of the “new normal.” Organizational communication was important to enrich organizational effectiveness, service delivery, and client satisfaction. Empathy and compassion were significant traits that were needed for all employees.

Organizational Communication as an HR Personnel in a Correctional Facility
As an HR professional in a correctional facility, my responsibilities include acting as the middle person between the employees, superiors, and third parties. The communication media are e-mails, regularly scheduled online and face-to-face meetings through Zoom, and internal memos. For instance, daily campaign newsletters are e-mailed to the staff to provide information about changes in protocols or schedules of particular regulations, and online conferences are held weekly to create additional discussion forums for questions and answers. Company circulars are more official and can relay new policies or critical junctures that must be brought to everyone's attention.
Frequently, remote communication is the mode of communication that sometimes creates issues due to miscommunication and lack of face-to-face interactions. Conversely, face-to-face communication allows for prompt recognition of issues, which can be reflected in the participants' reactions, providing instantaneous feedback.
