These systems can assist people who struggle with something (Java et al., 2021). Al-Anon is an example of the online support systems available online. It is a support group for friends and family members of individuals struggling with alcohol addiction. In-person meetings have traditionally been a vital component of the Al-Anon program, but with the rise of technology, many groups now offer online meetings as well. Furthermore, this paper discusses the platform’s benefits and drawbacks according to the user’s experience.
Online support systems are beneficial to users. One of the advantages of online support systems is that they can be accessed from anywhere, at any time. It means that people can receive assistance even outside of traditional business hours. Online support systems can also be more cost effective than traditional support methods, requiring fewer operating resources. Furthermore, one benefit of online Al-Anon meetings is that they can be more accessible for people who cannot attend in-person meetings due to distance or other barriers. They can also be convenient for people with busy schedules or who prefer the anonymity of an online setting. Online Al-Anon meetings can take different forms but often involve video or audio calls using Zoom or Skype. Participants can join from anywhere with an internet connection and a device supporting the platform.
