Motivation at the work place has changed. Change has been the norm. Additionally, the level of motivation among the employees towards the set goals has changed. This may lead to a rise in dissatisfaction and decreased productivity. Thus, there are various techniques to be used to motivate the employee for the above job description. First and foremost, the employer should be keen on little things in order to motivate others (Fielder, 1996).
These small things will illustrate that the employer respects his/her employees. The employees should ensure that they are time during meetings, using expressions like “thank you” and “good morning” regularly. The employee should also return e-mails and phone calls on time. This gives the employees an implication that the employer cares. Secondly, the employee should be an active listener in order to offer motivation to employees. This should be the case when paying attention to the employees (Hartney, 2007). The employee should talk to people without looking down upon them. They may ask the employees their respective dreams and goals, their passed successes and failures. Additionally, they should listen to their employees with their minds and hearts. They should also respect the thoughts and opinions of the employees.
Additionally, the employer should walk the talk in order to motivate his/her employees. For employees to arrive early at the place of work, the manager should arrive first. If there are any expectations of the employees keeping their promises, then, the employer should do the same in the first place (Fielder, 1996). If the employer expects the workers to maintain high standards, then, he should provide an example by doing the same. On the other hand, the employer should make the workers to understand that they can also make a difference in motivating other employees. This means the workers understanding that make a difference at the place of work. The employer does this by praising the employees in order to attain the objective of the organization. Another way of motivating the individual who has filled the above position is by communicating clearly. There should a proper communication for employees to comprehend what is to be attained. The communication should be well adapted to the target audience. The employer should constantly communicate the objectives and vision of the company in order to avoid misunderstandings.
The employer should also assist the employees to succeed in order for them to be motivated. Individuals work in order to succeed. The employer should comprehend the strengths and weaknesses of his workers in order to put in the perfect position to succeed. If the person filling the job position is found to be inadequate in a given skill designated to succeed in a change, then, give the training and coaching to make them and the company to emerge successful. As a good manager, the weaknesses of the employees should be eliminated or minimized. There would be building on the strengths of the employees. All the hindrances to success should be reduced. The person should also be focused towards the goal in order to be motivated. They should be focused towards the end result. This is the overall objective of the team.
