Interpersonal violence occurs when someone uses his or her powers or physical force on other people. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is one of the most critical forms of interpersonal violence, which involves conflict between people in a romantic relationship. For a case to be considered an IPV, the individuals involved should be engaged in either an existing romantic relationship or have a history of such. Cases of IPV are becoming prevalent in almost all communities in today's society. Previously, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have reported numerous forms of violence affecting people in intimate relationships (CDC, 2022). CDC acknowledges the fact that IPV is a challenge affecting both genders but also admits that women form a larger proportion of the victims. Gosselin (2019) confirms the CDC's acknowledgment by emphasizing the fact that IPV is a global concern. Therefore, having gained a deep understanding of IPV and having appreciated its existence as a form of violence, it is important to create a community program that enlightens people on the ways of tackling the problem.
Since IPV takes various forms of violence, it maintains a high prevalence level in most communities. Scholars have established that IPV presents negative health and social outcomes.
