Understanding the complex web of interpersonal connections and the factors that play a crucial role in establishing them was a significant insight gained from this unit. Recognising the range from impersonal to interpersonal ties helps illuminate how diversity and cultural differences shape our interactions (Person, Cheryl & Hamilton, 2018). Our cultural norms, biases, and perceptions all play a role in the quality of our relationships in our professional and personal lives. Additionally, diversity encompasses apparent distinctions and intangible aspects such as values, traditions, and beliefs deeply rooted in our respective cultural backgrounds. After reflecting on my requirements for belonging, power, and transparency, I came to appreciate the possibility that people from different backgrounds may have varying thresholds for and conceptions of these qualities.
