After the 9/11 attacks, the Department of Homeland Security was established as a counterterrorism unit in America. It has been given the responsibility of protecting the Americans from terrorist attacks. In order to achieve this objective, DHS has several units that work separately but with a common vision of protecting America from terrorist attacks. The groups that play important roles in DHS include:
* The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It is the largest and complex component of DHS which ensures that terrorist and their weapons do not enter the United States. It also secures and facilitates trade and travel laws.
