From the look of the picture, it is convincible to argue that the glacier is shrinking. One of the most common ways that glaciologists use to estimate the mass balance of glaciers is an observation of ice and snow masses on the glacier. In the picture, the abundance of ice and snow appears to have shrunk into the valleys, and high altitude surfaces are left without snow hence indicating the shrinking nature of the glacier.
