Cultural group

Think about the cultural group with which you most closely identify (or, if you use an example that is not a personal one, write about the cultural group with which the person in your example most closely identifies). Write a short essay (1-2 pages) that explores how your identification with this cultural group may “filter” your view of other cultures. Please consider the following: Discuss a difficult, conflictual experience that you (or the person in your example) encountered as a result of your/their filter(s) and/or assumption(s) that you made about another person whose culture you/they perceived as different from your/their own cultural group (as identified in the first part of the instructions). How did you (or the person in the example) react as a result of your filter(s) and/or assumption(s)? What was the outcome? Knowing what you know now, what might have been done differently (by you, or by the person in the example) to more effectively manage the conflict with that person? Remember, this must be connected to what you have learned in this unit! As this is an assignment on moving beyond bias, please ensure your answer addresses every element of the instructions, including what you would do differently now based on what you have learned.
