Commanders usually control the operations process and come up with plans to guide their staff. They formulate plans for future operations intending to achieve desired outcomes (Redfern & Cornett, 2018). The success of any operation depends highly on the clarity and the understanding of the command relationships. Lack of knowledge of command and support relationships by some of the staff at some phase of operation hinders the success of a mission when it is usually critically required.
COMARFOR exercises various command relationships: attached, operational control, tactical control organic, and assigned. These command relationships are a top priority to comprehension by staff. Organic includes the organic units forming an essential part of the organization and are documented by the organization (Redfern & Cornett, 2018).
