A review of the different potential challenges reveals that entry by unauthorized immigrants, infiltration by terrorists, and criminal network activities are the top three issues affecting the United States borders (Rosenblum et al., 2013). One of the leading reasons for this determination is the ongoing discourses about sustainable solutions against illegal immigrants in the nation. Trends reveal that the country’s borders remain porous despite the deterrent measures. Criminal organizations smuggling contraband and drugs continue to thrive, demonstrating the importance of classifying them at the top of the list of prioritizations. The inclusion of terrorist groups follows the persistent threats since 9/11.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the most appropriate agency for addressing border control responsibility. The institution has well-trained officers to regularly patrol the borders and seal any loopholes that threaten homeland security (U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 2022).
