Individual Reflection
I have participated in several working groups in this course. In reality, working in groups enhances better decision making. Group members share knowledge skills, and experiences to address problems that they encounter. I have realized that the most significant thing is to allow individuals to participate in various activities so that they can share their ideas and opinions. This paper is a reflection that analyzes my experiences obtained by working with various groups.
As a group, we were assigned a task of completing a specific project. All the members in my group were ready to participate and understood the importance of meeting the established common objectives. For instance, I observed a member who was always willing to help each other when faced with a problem. Group members did not look up unto others without helping. They understood that the crucial thing was to perform the task at hand and complete it based on the given instructions. For sure, I saw some group members who had completed their duties helping their colleagues, which was a good thing. Members were united in a way that did not hinder decision-making since we worked together to solve potential problems (Chapter 1, 2017). By doing so, everyone was satisfied and willing to offer help without hesitating. That is why we accomplished all the tasks at hand and the overall project was successful. For sure, group members behaved well, which is why our group succeeded to meet all its set objectives.
Group members’ behaviors showed a deep diversity. In particular, my group had members from different cultures, ethnicities, races, and religions. But all these differences brought us together. The most significant thing that group members did is that they never engaged in discussions or arguments involving personal differences (Chapter 6, 2017). We were more focused to achieve the set objectives and goals. I have learned from my groups that diversity is crucial for the success of any group. If members engage in arguments involving their differences, they might end up hating each other or having unnecessary conflicts that make the group not to focus on the tasks at hand. The willingness and readiness to work with members from different races, cultures, ethnicities, or religion is the most important thing in a diverse group (Chapter 4, 2017). Individuals’ distinctiveness mean that they have unique talents and skills. In that light, if a problem arises, these group members have numerous strategies to address it. However, all group members ought to be made to feel safe so that they can share their ideas and opinions.
