Coaches work for individuals and groups to help clients realize their potentials and guide them to achieve their goals. Coaches collaborate with their clients to provide the structure, direction, and support for them to assess their existing state, set realistic objectives, take necessary actions in achieving the goals and learn by constantly reflecting on actions taken (Ibarra & Scoular, 2019). In corporate settings, where a coach works for groups, there can be ethical issues, especially where an employee hires a coach on behalf of the organization. Confidentiality is one of the ethical issues that emerge in this situation. Information belonging to the company's clients and told in confidence can be disclosed to the higher management since the organization is the actual client. However, this might also depend on the situation where organizations with strong ethical standards to protect employees’ privacy will have fewer of these cases.
