Religious diversity and religious experience
Religious diversity can refer to a policy or attitude regarding the pluralism of religious beliefs systems co-existing in the society. During my studies in the University, I have come across various religious movements that have really impacted on my religious beliefs (Simmons, 2009). Some of these movements include; Potter’s House (Fellowship Ministry), Center of Christian, The Door, Chapel of Victory, and Crossroads Chapel among several other.
In my own view, these religious sects and movements are brought about by the following reasons;
* Culture identity search: they arise because people are in search of meanings when they are feeling lost in a cultural change.
* Filling a void: many Christians join new religious sects and movements because they feel there is an answer to their thirst for scripture reading, singing, emotional satisfaction, dancing and concrete clear answers within them (Simmons, 2009).
* Worldwide Phenomenon: in the USA the new religious sects and movements have flourished from the last century especially in the last forty years. They arise mostly from the US they move to Latin America, South Africa, the Philippines, and Europe.
