Assessment Description

In this assignment, you will demonstrate your understanding of the Christian worldview, including the main topics you have covered up to this point. You will summarize and analyze the essential elements of the gospel (nature of God, nature of humanity, nature of Jesus, and restoration) and reflect on implications for the Christian worldview.

Write a 1,500-2,000-word essay using at least four resources. The four resources need to include at least two course resources (textbook, topic overviews, the Bible) and at least two other sources from the GCU Library to support your points. Remember, the Bible counts as one resource regardless of how many times you use it or how many verses you cite.

Begin your paper with an appropriate introduction, including a thesis statement to introduce the purpose of the paper. Present the gospel essentials (nature of God, nature of humanity, nature of Jesus, and restoration), the Christian foundation, and an analysis of the implications of the Christian worldview.

Use the "Gospel Essentials Essay Template." Based on the Christian worldview, write at least one paragraph for each of the following components.

Nature of God: What is the triune God like? What are God's characteristics? What is his creation?

Nature of Humanity: What is human nature? What is human purpose? What is the root cause of human problems?

Nature of Jesus: What is Jesus's true identity? What was Jesus's kingdom purpose? Why is Jesus's identity and work significant for the Christian worldview?

Restoration: What is the solution to human problems according to the Christian worldview? What role do grace, faith, and repentance play in Christian salvation? How do Christians think that the transformation of self and society happen?

Christian Foundation: Summarize how the concepts of the gospel essentials (nature of God, nature of humanity, nature of Jesus, and restoration) constitute the foundation of the Christian worldview. In other words, how are these concepts essential to the Christian worldview?

Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview: Based on the previous five prompts, analyze the implications of the Christian worldview by addressing each of the following questions:

What are the benefits or strengths of the Christian worldview as it relates to human value and dignity?

Benchmark—Gospel Essentials
The Christian worldview is a comprehensive and coherent framework for understanding reality based on the divine revelation in the Bible. It addresses fundamental inquiries regarding human existence, including the nature of God, our own identity, purpose, and the means of salvation. In this paper, I will outline the essential components of the Christian worldview, namely the divine nature, human nature, the nature of Jesus, and the concept of restoration. Moreover, I will explicate the significance of these concepts within the framework of the Christian worldview and how they impact notions of human value and dignity, salvation, cognition, behavior, and common challenges. Consequently, the Christian worldview presents a coherent and compelling understanding of reality, grounded in the revelation of God through Jesus Christ, offering hope and transformation for both individuals and society.
Gospel Essential Beliefs
Nature of God
The nature of God is a profound and intricate subject that various religions and philosophers have extensively explored. In Christian theology, the doctrine of the Trinity is commonly employed to comprehend the nature of God. According to this doctrine, God is a singular being who exists in the form of three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2019). God possesses several attributes, including Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence, and Love.
Omnipotence refers to God's ability to accomplish anything that aligns with his nature and will. Omniscience denotes God's comprehensive knowledge of past, present, and future events, encompassing the thoughts and intentions of all beings. Omnipresence signifies God's continual presence in all places and at all times, transcending the limitations of space and time (Morley, n.d.). Love characterizes God as the embodiment of love, expressing it through acts of creation, sustenance, redemption, and sanctification.
God's creation encompasses all visible and invisible aspects of existence. According to the biblical account in Genesis, God spoke the universe, the earth, and all living beings into being over six days, showcasing his word and power. Human beings hold a special position in God's creation as they are made in his image and likeness, endowing them with unique dignity and responsibility (Genesis 1:26-27 NLT). God deemed everything he created as good and rested on the seventh day.[New Living Translation (NLT), Tyndale House Publishers, 2015]
Nature of Humanity
Human nature encompasses the shared characteristics of humanity, including rationality, sociability, adaptability, curiosity, morality, and free will. From a Christian perspective, humans are believed to have been created in the image and likeness of God. However, human nature is also marred by sin, which involves a rebellion against God's will and design. As a result of sin, humans become separated from God and endure moral imperfections, selfishness, and mortality. The Christian solution to the problem of sin is God's grace, which is his undeserved favor and love. Through faith in Jesus Christ, who died and was resurrected to atone for our sins, humans can obtain forgiveness and be restored to a righteous relationship with God.
Human purpose refers to the meaning or objective of human life, which varies based on individual beliefs, values, and worldviews. Religious, existentialist, and humanist interpretations are commonly encountered. The root cause of human problems stems from the intricate interaction of numerous factors, including ignorance, greed, fear, sin, and evil. These factors can lead to poor decision-making, harmful actions, conflict, inequality, prejudice, discrimination, corruption, and death. Humans possess the capacity and responsibility to make wise choices and live by God's plan and design or to establish their purpose and contribute to the improvement of humanity and the world.
Nature of Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah, fulfilling the role of savior for humanity by delivering them from sin and death. His identity is characterized by the dual nature of being both fully divine and fully human, an idea known as the Incarnation. The purpose of his kingdom is to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, which embodies principles of peace, justice, love, and righteousness. His teachings often employ parables to elucidate the nature of the heavenly kingdom and how it may be attained. He calls upon individuals to renounce their sins and emulate his example, leading to salvation. Despite being born of man, Jesus' unblemished nature is akin to that of a sacrificial lamb, as he was executed on behalf of humanity. This could be summarized by John 3:16 (NIV), which says that God sacrificed his son Jesus, for us to receive eternal life.[New International Version (NIV), Biblica, 2011.]
The significance of Jesus' identity and work lies in their foundational role within the Christian worldview, providing a framework for the Christian faith and guiding principles for daily living. Christians believe that by adhering to Jesus' teachings and following his example, they can partake i...
