“The Effects of Stress on Prospective Memory: A Systematic Review” by Martina Piefke and Katharina Glienke focuses on how stress affects people’s prospective memory (PM). In particular, individuals face challenges or stressful moments in their lives. However, the magnitude or stage of stress can be detrimental to people’s well-being, particularly in memory retention. PM has distinctive stages of processing, namely planning, retention, evaluation, and performance (Piefke & Glienke, 2017). Additionally, it can be an event or time-based. For example, with individuals suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress has been seen to affect their retrospective memory (RM). Based on the research conducted by Piefke and Glienke, it is clear that stress has disturbing impacts on PM.
