Peers continue to be important in adolescence and often serve as crucial bridges between the family and adult social roles (Berk, 2022). During this time, adolescents are on a journey to discover an identity that is separate from their family. The focus of this discussion is on peer acceptance and rejection in middle childhood and identity development in adolescence.
