Based on the ABC information provided, ShariLynn's challenging behaviours can be identified as escape or avoidance. Escape or avoidance behaviour refers to withdrawing from an unpleasant situation or task to stop a negative stimulus and is often motivated by negative consequences or discomfort (Dymond, 2019). This behaviour can be seen through ShariLynn's refusal to attend speech therapy and the resource room, as well as her noncompliance in these settings, despite instructions and threats of possible detention.
