Sensation and Perception
First, I have learned that we see with our brains and not our eyes, and we hear using our brains and not our ears. It is through two sets of processes that these aspects occur. These sets are sensation and perception. The sensation works by detecting any stimuli in our body or around us. Notably, the detection is done by the cells around the sense organs, the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and internal body tissues. These cells create awareness in sound, color, or form. Additionally, perception occurs when the brain organizes the received stimuli and interprets them into meaningful patterns. Sensation and perception matter because it helps us to know and understand what is happening inside and around us. These aspects are the foundation of what we learn and how we act, think, and relate with others.
