By 1968, the philosophy of behaviorism was developed and laid a strong foundation for the more modern conceptualization of the science of applied behavior analysis. In 1968, Baer, Wolf, & Risley published the first article in the first volume of the newly minted Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. In this article, they described seven essential dimensions of applied behavior analysis that guide research and practice to this day. Many mark this event as the emergence of applied behavior analysis as a field. For this discussion, please review the assigned readings and the video in this unit. Please respond to the following: Name and describe each of the seven dimensions of ABA. Describe Baer et al.'s (1968) rationale for presenting these as the foundation for sound research and practice in ABA. What conclusions did Baer et al. (1987) reach when they reviewed the seven dimensions nearly 20 years later? Based on your readings and the assigned video, what future directions might be important to consider (if any) in development of the seven dimensions? https://www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=9CsNaREVosc

These dimensions include an applied dimension that focuses on society's behavior when it faces various challenges. To handle these challenges, the dimension explores the relationship between the behavior and the challenge being studied (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968). Secondly, a behavioral dimension states that physical events usually influence a person's behavior. Scientifically, measurements and observations are essential to identifying these current behaviors (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968). Analytics is another dimension that explains the need to analyze behavior based on social settings. However, the settings emphasize that they should not be used frequently. The technological dimension focuses on the procedures used to identify a behavior. In addition, these procedures should be sufficiently recognized and described before being used to identify behaviors. Another dimension is conceptual systems, which emphasize methods to determine behaviors that should follow technological aspects and several principles (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968). Last but not least, an effective dimension is the behavioral techniques that do not lead to positive impacts. For this reason, they are considered a failure. Finally, the Generality dimension expounds more on behavior...
