Personality tests are utilized for many purposes across different fields. Knowledge of personality traits, behaviors, and preferences is crucial for creating the best environments for everyone. Individuals can identify their strengths and potential areas for development using these tests. Most people struggle with regulating their emotions; thus, these tests can determine how someone reacts to different situations. Second, personality tests inform career counseling and development. The Myers-Briggs Personality Test
The Myers-Briggs personality test is a reflective and self-report evaluation that identifies a person’s psychological preferences and personality type. It was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs in collaboration with Isabel Briggs Myers, thus the name Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). According to Makwan and Dave (2020), the MBTI framework incorporates four cognitive dimensions tailored to establish an individual’s personality including judging/perceiving, thinking/feeling, sensing/intuition, and extraversion/introversion. The above categories can be conceptualized via Carl Jung’s personality tests which are classified into sixteen categories or preferences. More specifically, the MBTI framework measures personality by portraying an individual’s two extremes as noted in the four categories.
