Human Growth Development Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Human Growth Development Part A 1 Erikson's generativity-versus-stagnation stage with his ego-integrity-versus-despair stage for middle and late adulthood. Erikson's stages of generativity-versus-stagnation and ego-integrity-versus-despair showcase various similarities and differences both in their ideological structures and application. Primarily, both stages outline people’s strategies and approaches to evaluate their lives in different developmental stages (Feldman, 2019). Even though the stages outline occurrences in different periods and aspects of life, they emphasize the value of development and growth relative to what an individual is, what he/she has come from, and what he/she intends to achieve in the future. One of the major differences between the two stages is the periods in which they occur. The generativity-versus-stagnation stage occurs during middle adulthood, which is between the ages of 40 and 65. The generativity-versus-stagnation stage is characterized by individuals tabulating their contributions to society. The period is marked by people emphasizing their contributions to future generations. While those who feel generativity showcase accomplishments, individuals experiencing stagnation at that stage may feel disconnected from the broader society due to their feeling of unproductiveness. Conversely, the ego-integrity-versus-despair occurs after one reaches 65 years and bears different characteristics. At this stage, people emphasize a more outward look at themselves (Feldman, 2019). For instance, individuals at this stage will likely reflect on the contributions that they have made to society. Those who achieve ego-integrity at this stage manifest fulfillment after having lived a meaningful life that has an impact on other people. However, those in despair manifest dissatisfaction with their lives. Summarily, while both stages focus on self-reflection, the differences are marked by their perspectives as one is more inward-focused and the other is outward-focused (Feldman, 2019). A uniting illustration for both stages could be that individuals find satisfaction in mentoring others in the generativity stage. As he/she reaches the ego-integrity stage, the said mentor may find peace in his/her contribution by reflecting upon the impacts of his/her mentorship. 2 (a) The occurrences that can affect positive or negative outcomes in Erickson's generativity-versus-stagnation stage Various occurrences can influence an indiv...
