Derived stimulus relations are crucial since they help in learning and cognition. There are three derived stimulus relations: symmetry, transitivity, and equivalence. Symmetry happens when a person shows that if A=B, then B must be equal to A despite the learner not being directly taught about it. My real-life example is that when I was a child, I learned that Coca-Cola is a type of drink (A=Coca-Cola, B=drink).
