According to Pomerantz (2020), the study of the effectiveness of therapy in clinical psychology has undergone significant evolution over the years to where it is now. Pomerantz argues that this evolution was fueled by the rising demand for accountability and measurable results in mental health treatment. Further, he argues that psychotherapy was majorly based on theoretical concepts in which practitioners relied on their training and intuitions to make judgments on the treatment to administer.
