Looking at Mallory's behavior in the interview, she exemplifies transference. One of the signs is that Mallory unconsciously transferred her feelings, expectations, and assumptions that she had in the past to Dr. Santos (Pomerantz, 2019). For instance, although Dr. Santos had not exhibited any signs that she was not interested in her story, Mallory interrupted herself. She tells her she knows she is uninterested in her story and feels bothered. However, despite Dr. Santos assuring her that this is not the case, she only answers her for a few minutes and insists on leaving unprovoked.
