Abnormal Psychology: Narcissistic Personality Disorder
The DSM–5-TR lists ten different personality disorders, organized into three clusters. This week's discussion will allow you to dig deeper into one specific disorder in terms of causes, symptoms, and treatments. As we will all be exploring different disorders, be sure to read your fellow classmates' postings to learn more about the personality disorders that you did not choose for review.
Identify which personality disorder you chose, as well as prevalent symptoms.
Discuss at least three effects of symptoms on an individual's life (social relationships, self-worth, employability, etc.).
Locate at least one scholarly resource that reviews treatment for your chosen disorder and summarize its findings.
Finally, reflect upon why personality disorders are considered one of the most difficult mental illnesses to treat.
