After going through a tough period before deciding the career to pursue, I am now majoring in finance. Giving up on dreams on the rails, as well as challenges encountered while settling in the financial world brought many frustrations. However, finding passion in business and more precisely in finance has been reliving and reassuring for me. Beyond serving as a career path, I derive a lot of satisfaction from helping clients solve problems in finance. As an international student from China and working with an investment bank for half a year, I am now certain of my love and passion to pursue financing.
My internship with the investment bank in China gave basic insight and inspiration in finance. Interaction with clients, colleagues and senior management officers acquainted me with what a career in finance entails. As a finance major, I expected to study other business courses such as accounting and management, which would give me a general understanding of the working environment. I also drew parallels from my experience as an intern. Interacting with business and accounting majors when our courses overlap is also informative on what to expect as I interact with colleagues in future.
