Effects of the Pandemic to Different Groups of Different Ages
You can use data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) website to do a mini-paper of 2 pages with a table showing how the pandemic has differentially affected the employment of certain groups. You could do a breakdown by one or more of the following characteristics:
Gender
Race
Ethnicity
Age group
Disability
Education
You could possibly combine these characteristics in your preferred breakdown—e.g., Blacks who are 20-24 years old compared to whites who are 20-24 years old.
For whatever breakdown you choose (e.g., women compared to men, or high school graduates compared to college graduates), you should pick one of the following indicators:
Labor force participation rate
Total employed
Employment-population ratio
Employed full-time
Unemployment rate
For this indicator, construct a table with the monthly numbers since January 2020, then calculate a percentage change for each group to see which group has had the largest change since then.

The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected all aspects of people's lives. It has had a significant effect on the employment rates of people all over the world. People lost their jobs due to the pandemic’s closure of numerous businesses. However, in the United States, the pandemic has brought more opportunities for people. The pandemic has allowed people to show their creativity and resilience when needed (Thukral, 2021). Thus, this paper aims to highlight the pandemic's effect on the employment of Whites and Blacks, men and women aged 16 to 19.

Table 1 shows the number of unemployed White men and women aged from 16 to 19 years old. The data was from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2020, the table revealed that there were 744 unemployed, whereas in 2021, there were 486 unemployed. Thus, the percentage of the number of unemployed Whites aged 16 to 19 is 34.68% (U.S. Labour of Bureau Statistics, n.d.).
