Producing Better Government for Less
The public figure that the paper focuses on is Xavier Becerra, the twenty-fifth Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Becerra works at the federal government and advises the president on various matters involving income security, health, and welfare (Armour, 2021). The individual’s management style is collaborative. He works closely with team members since his priority is making individuals feel professionally and personally fulfilled so that they can produce better outcomes. Becerra’s style of leadership is crucial in developing problem-solving strategies since he interacts with relevant stakeholders to understand the root of different issues before coming up with the most appropriate solutions. The paper focuses on how Becerra applied the four primary principles, namely cutting the red tape, putting customers first, empowering employees to get results, and cutting back to basics: producing better government for less, to successfully analyze and solve the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States of America (USA).

For instance, healthcare providers were provided with personal protective equipment so that they could help many people without contracting the disease.

Becerra listened carefully to American citizens, organizations, other leaders, and healthcare providers. His primary objective was to restructure operations to meet the needs of the people. Specifically, many individuals died from COVID-19 and the rate of infection rose tremendously. After collaborating with relevant departments, leaders, and organizations, Becerra advised the government to formulate restrictions to decrease the rate of coronavirus infection. Numerous government and private operations were halted which would have facilitated increased infection rates. Americans were advised to stay at home, quarantine those infected, wear face masks, wash hands regularly, and keep social distance. As such, when COVID-19 vaccines were introduced, the ...
