Rapid technological advancement has digitalized the world so everyone in the United States can access the Internet. Homeland intelligence faces a dilemma regarding balancing approaches for national security through surveillance and the citizens' right to privacy. The Snowden Leaks in 2013 was a wake-up call for citizens to question the extent of the federal government's surveillance activities. Even though the whistle-blower could not rejoin the intelligence community in the United States after leaking the crucial details, the impact of that revelation still lingers in the minds of concerned citizens (Henderson, 2023). However, surveillance activities are done secretly, and their negative impacts are only severe when the members of the public are aware. Another Significant Issue Another significant issue that requires rethinking within the intelligence community is the challenge of combating emerging cyber threats.
