Introduction
The emergence of nonprofit organizations in the United States over the last 15 years has been tremendous because of the growth of societal needs. The growth of the nonprofit sector has proved to be faster than the growth of the entire economy. Its growth can be attributed to the fact that no visible profits are expected from them thus they are granted the exempt status. Measuring the impact and effectiveness of the nonprofit organizations becomes questionable ADDIN CSL_CITATION { "citationItems" : [ { "id" : "ITEM-1", "itemData" : { "author" : [ { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Alvord", "given" : "S.H.", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" }, { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Brown", "given" : "L.D.", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" }, { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Letts", "given" : "C.W.", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" } ], "container-title" : "The Journal of Applied Behavioral Science,", "id" : "ITEM-1", "issue" : "3", "issued" : { "date-parts" : [ [ "2004" ] ] }, "page" : "260-82", "title" : "Social entrepreneurship and societal transformation", "type" : "article-journal", "volume" : "40" }, "uris" : [ "/documents/?uuid=0cae6172-995a-497e-bd88-6845a0b30de1" ] } ], "mendeley" : { "formattedCitation" : "(Alvord, Brown, & Letts, 2004)", "plainTextFormattedCitation" : "(Alvord, Brown, & Letts, 2004)", "previouslyFormattedCitation" : "(Alvord, Brown, & Letts, 2004)" }, "properties" : { "noteIndex" : 0 }, "schema" : "https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json" }(Alvord, Brown, & Letts, 2004). Therefore, the default method of showing their effectiveness was by assessing the contentment levels target groups to which the nonprofit organizations were assigned. Their satisfaction of the services delivered to them became a good indicator of how the services benefit them. The managers of the nonprofit organizations play a key role in ensuring that the effectiveness of the programs set by the organizations’ boards meet the standards that are required of them.
Managers’ Roles
Every manager needs to have a viable vision for his/her organization. The vision is accompanied with the mission and the passion that the manager has for the programs. Managers of nonprofit organizations should have the heart to help those in need and persevere through any tough times that may render them incapable of handling their tasks. They need to have empathy and since the way they felt about helping others was contagious, it would brush off other people who would spread the love to others as well. Therefore, the passion is what drives the mission to achieve the organizational goals ADDIN CSL_CITATION { "citationItems" : [ { "id" : "ITEM-1", "itemData" : { "author" : [ { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Herman", "given" : "R.D.", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" }, { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Renz", "given" : "D.O.", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" } ], "container-title" : "Nonprofit Management & Leadership", "id" : "ITEM-1", "issue" : "1", "issued" : { "date-parts" : [ [ "1998" ] ] }, "page" : "23-38", "title" : "Nonprofit organizational effectiveness: contrasts between especially effective and less effective organizations", "type" : "article-journal", "volume" : "9" }, "uris" : [ "/documents/?uuid=0fe89e79-3195-488c-b7d5-f6b8b6d179f6" ] } ], "mendeley" : { "formattedCitation" : "(Herman & Renz, 1998)", "plainTextFormattedCitation" : "(Herman & Renz, 1998)", "previouslyFormattedCitation" : "(Herman & Renz, 1998)" }, "properties" : { "noteIndex" : 0 }, "schema" : "https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json" }(Herman & Renz, 1998).
