Qualitative Research Methods Management Essay Paper

Essay Instructions:

The Module 2 SLP assignment is to write a 3-to-4-page paper in which the following items are addressed:

Review the chosen proposed research problem identified in Module 1 and determine the best “methodology” to research the “qualitative” aspects of this issue (i.e., use an ethnographic approach, grounded theory methodology, a case study strategy, or action research?); identify compelling content from the literature that supports the selected methodology.

Provide a rationale and justification for the qualitative research methodology selected.

Describe the sample population and the process used to "select” this group.

Present a logical sequence of ideas to explain the use of methodology (for the qualitative component of the mini-study) and justification for selected sample population.

Remember: This Session Long Project is a “mini” research project addressing only the “qualitative” aspects of the mixed methods used to study the chosen research problem. The sample population may be small so the data collection and analysis can be managed over the remaining modules.

Research Question
Healthcare institutions function like other businesses and depend on a tough financial management. Even when hospitals have resilient and organized financial management strategies, it is not clear how most of them pay for the equipment that they buy or service. Also, it is also not clear how the hospitals process the patients' bills. The research therefore is: What is Influence of Financial Management Strategies on the Provision of Services by Healthcare Organizations?
The Case Study Research Methodology
To answer the research question above, case study research methodology will be used. Millio (2016) argues that a case study refers to an empirical inquiry that looks at a case within its real-life context and in detail especially in circumstances where the boundaries between the context and the case aren’t clearly evident. The authors also hold that case studies are most appropriate for questions starting with what, why or how. Historically, case studies have been used in several research works and yet their importance has never diminished. Case studies are normally seen to target qualitative turns. However, they normally target no particular data collection method (Elman, Gerring & Mahoney, 2016). Certain aspects of a case study research can be viewed quantitatively such as the selection of cases. A case study provides a competent way of researching and investigating a single case. The effectiveness of a single case study can be determined by comparing outcomes in similar cases. Whenever there are differences in outcomes, it is possible to investigate the variables that contributed to the variations. Through case studies, people get to have a clear sense of what is being studied. Researchers normally value how close a case is to the real-life situation in order for them to have a clear view of reality (Elman, Gerring & Mahoney, 2016). The views normally cover those found at the lowest level of learning process to those found at the highest level. Cases are also important to researchers in their own learning processes especially in helping them to acquire the necessary skills needed to perform a good research. This way, case studies give individuals to the ability to explore an issue intensively and deeply especially for those subjects that cannot be created physically or ethically (Hollweck, 2015).
Through case studies, researchers often have found a way of developing new research. Case studies can lead to valuable findings that can be used to carry out a new research at an advanced level. In the past, findings of case studies have led to a lot of research being done. Additionally, researchers can ac...
