Since the inception of the concept of trade unions, a lot of developments have been made to enhance the welfare of an employee, and one of them is the enactment of a neutrality agreement. A neutrality agreement, in essence, is a contract binding the union and a company together and seeks to give the union autonomy in its mandate of organizing the workforce without the employer compromising the neutrality of the employee (Smith, 2020). Neutrality agreements are legally binding. Hence it is a proactive way of harnessing cooperation between the labor union and the company. The union stands to benefit from the neutrality agreement since the autonomy leans on its side, while the employer is expected to keep silent on its opinions about the union.
