Waning motivation is seen when employees are not meeting work objectives, which may be attributed to many reasons. This essay will analyze the reasons for the reduction in employee motivation, how Thomas can use the goal-setting theory to motivate his employees, and two incentives applicable in mitigating waning motivation in an organization. Reasons for Diminishing Employee Motivation Motivation is a force that decreases gradually with time and gets worse when it is not addressed immediately. Second, employees are less motivated when they lack clear goals and expectations from the management.
