Organizational change is not always successful. Identify factors that can cause change initiatives to fail and the five pillars that can cause them to succeed. Highlight an organization that failed to adapt and evaluate which of these factors and pillars were demonstrated by this organization.

Several factors cause change initiatives in organizations to fail. As described by Weiss (2016), these factors include resistance to change, the failure to recognize the need for change, shallow recognition of the need for change, short-term fix approach, failing to systematically implement change, structural and cultural hindrances, and the failure to sustain the change initiative. The five pillars associated with change success include leadership, culture, strategy, systems, and structures. Weiss (2016) noted that a company has to revitalize these pillars to shape and sustain growth.
A company that ultimately failed in its change initiative to recoup market share is Nokia. After Apple introduced the iPhone in 2007 and Google’s Android OS development, the competition in the mobile phone market heightened, and Nokia was on the receiving end.
