Elements of Training and Development
The training and development proposal will focus on the Jaxx gas station located in Columbus, OH. The gas station operates twenty-four hours a day, and they sell items such as drinks, snacks, lottery tickets, and cigarettes. The employees work in shifts to provide the best services to their customers. The training and development proposal aims at addressing the challenges that have been hindering the gas station from being competitive in the industry. The program is geared towards creating a conducive work environment by focusing on the reliability of the management team. It will ensure that the management team implements all the strategies necessary to create a conducive work environment.
Potential Challenges
One of the challenges that the managers might face when addressing organizational performance is a stressful work environment. Employees have a different perception about the definition of a conducive work environment. Some employees might attribute such an environment to fair remunerations, while others might attribute it to conducive work shifts and less supervision. These variations might make it challenging for the managers to determine the ways that could be used to offer a conducive work environment. If the employees consider the work environment to be stressful, they will have challenges accomplishing organizational goals. This means that the organization will be less productive. However, if the workplace is conducive and every employee is contented, their productivity rates would be high, and therefore, the business would be more competitive. Therefore, the managers are likely to encounter stressed employees whose productivity rate is low, thus negatively affecting the company's competitive capabilities.
Another challenge likely to be encountered is employee relations. Employee relations play an important role in determining the competitive capabilities of an organization. These relations determine the situation of the work environment and the ability of employees to work in teams. If the business is experiencing poor employee relations, its performance will be low because employees do not have a conducive work environment necessary in enhancing productivity. Among the factors contributing to poor employee relations are conflicts. If the levels of unresolved conflicts in the organization are high, workers would consider the work environment inconducive. This means their productivity levels will be low.
The managers would also face the issue of financial stamina while addressing business performance. The financial position of a business plays an important role in determining its productivity levels. The business requires finances to obtain the necessary resources needed in enhancing performance. An example of such resources is labor. Employees expect to be fairly compensated for their work to motivate them to be more productive. If the employees are underpaid., their productivity level will be low, and the employee turnover rate could also be high. A high employee turnover rate is an added expense to an organization because it has to cater to the expenses of remuneration and training. A poor financial situation would also make it challenging for the business to acquire the necessary infrastructure and tools to make the business competitive (Kinowska, 2020). Therefore, the business's financial stamina will determine the managers' level of challenge while evaluating performance.
Effects Of Detecting Organizational Gaps
The effect of identifying organizational gas is that it provides a business with an opportunity to invest in training and development programs. These programs are aimed at addressing some of the issues that have reduced the organization's performance. For instance, the employees might be stressed or have poor management skills. Then train in g and development program would address these issues, thus making the workers be less stressed at better time managers. The outcome of such training, therefore, enhances organizational performance. Businesses are faced with different challenges that lower the workers' levels of productivity. Therefore, identifying such gaps would enable the management team to determine the best training and development program to enhance performance. The business would invest in conferences and speakers that motivate its employees to meet organizational goals. If the business does not identify the gaps, it will not determine the training and development program ideal for the situation. Jaxx gas station has to recognize employee performance challenges to determine how much it needs to invest in training and development programs.
Detecting organizational gaps enables small businesses to appreciate accomplishments. The appreciation can be done by providing fair remunerations, incentives, fair working shifts, and rightful promotions (Bibi, Pangil, Johari & Ahmad, 2017). Organizations that appreciate employees' accomplishments stand a higher chance of being highly competitive in the industry. If an organization does not appreciate such accomplishments, its performance level would be low. The reason for such performance is...
