Do Managerial Ethics Really Exist Today? Name Institution Date Do Managerial Ethics Really Exist Today? Ethics are the ethical codes governing the behavior of an individual or populations with regard to either wrong or right. Ethics surround principles and values in existence and may vary from one organization to another. Managerial ethics refers to the standards that determine how managers need to conduct themselves as they carry out operational activities within a firm or institution or organization (Schniederjans, & Schniederjans, 2015). They normally address two key areas inclusive of policies as well as principles. Managerial ethics based on policies implies the conflicts of interest or the correct feedback to awards from vendors or partnerships. Managerial ethics based on principles provides an identification on what seems as just and morally right or wrong according to the regulations of an organization (Schniederjans, & Schniederjans, 2015). The role of managerial ethics is to provide a guideline on how to make preferences especially in situations whereby dilemmas exist. Accordingly, this paper seeks to find out whether managerial ethics still exist today. An example of an organization currently dealing with ethical issues includes UPM-Kymmene Corporation. The ethical issues of concern include transparency, involving honesty, accuracy as well as providing whole reports on mandatory financial statements (Halme, 2002). In the corporation, there is no efficient communication in cases such as reports on sales. This results in inefficiency in making necessary contacts to improve the running of the organization. Another ethical issue is lack of provision of fair surroundings to undertake work activities. The company is accountable for making sure that all the employees receive equal treatment. This serves as a motivation to workers to give an assurance to employees that they will work efficiently to achieve accomplishments. Another ethical issue on the well-being and safeness of the employees at the workplace. There is need to equalize the control of expenditures with the interests of the workforce with regard to their safety and health as well. These ethical issues have resulted in the corporation to perform unethically, therefore, affecting the smooth running of the organization (Halme, 2002). Another organization is Botanical Bounty; an example of where it has gone beyond in the area of ethical behavior is where it is not transparent on funding (Bplans, 2017). Due to the lack of transparency, the organization has faced many challenges because of lack of sufficient funds. This is because the individuals responsible for managing finances are not open on the use of money and all the reimbursements into the organization. It has led to difficulties while seeking to achieve goals and motives set by the organization. Ethical issues affect managers as well as organizations. They enable leaders to make ethics a first concern in the functional roles of managing an organization. This is through the application of ethics as a transparent and consistent part of their schedules (Bishop, 2013). This involves setting up standards, establishing the model of conduct and accountability in the running of an organization. It enables managers to maintain the tradition of having a good ethical culture. The accomplishment of this is by working smart to hire, train good workforce and the pursuance of management roles appropriately. On organizations, ethical issues evaluate the consideration of ethics by employees to reward the individuals who follow ethical codes at all times. This involves regular contact with employees and employers to determine whether there is consideration of ethical issues or not (Bishop, 2013). In conclusion, manageri...
