The necessary inputs in building a successful schedule include a list of resources and activities required for the project, project scope’s description, the project risks, and project and personal calendars. This means that one should have a work breakthrough (WBS) list that shows the actual work to be done, the amount of effort and the time each time will take, and the logical interdependence between tasks. They should also have the resources, actual equipment, personnel required to perform the tasks, and the measures put in place to deal with resource shortages (Kerzner, 2017).
Steps involved in creating a schedule
There are six distinct steps in creating a schedule. The first is defining the schedule activities, which involves taking each WBS work package and deciding the activities required to develop it.
