Leadership qualities are needed to develop a team that can help an organization achieve its set objectives. To be a leader of such a team, more needs to be done than just delegating work and directing the members. This paper will address the different elements that should be addressed in the process of developing the best team for the organization.
How to develop a diverse team of employees with different strengths
The best managers identify the unique and best strengths of every member of the team. Therefore, as the manager, I will use the unique strengths of every team member and optimize these natural gifts. After identifying the strengths of every team member, I will lead the team around these vital skills. Managing the team using the strength of every team member will lead to higher performance, increased productivity, as well as higher employee retention and employee engagement (Goffee & Scase, 2015). For instance, in a supervisory team, I will meet all the supervisors and seek their opinion on their most essential competencies, core-values, and strengths. I will also inform them that they can be supported when they have a strength that needs to be developed. Encouraging the employees will motivate them to discover their strengths and promote their professional skills. Similarly, training opportunities will be offered to employees that demonstrate talent and strengths in specific areas. As per the ERG motivation theory as well as in Maslow’s theory, employees have growth needs, and I believe these practices will help the team members attain self-actualization.

A team is a group of people that interdependently work together to achieve a specific objective. Group dynamics describes the impact of behaviors and distinct roles of the team members and the whole team. Members in a team with positive group dynamics tend to trust one another, and they work together to achieve a specific purpose.
