Project Proposal: Creating a Company Website
Project Background
               In today’s business world, businesses are constantly working towards increasing their visibility and maintaining a competitive edge. Due to increased digitization and access to the internet, having a corporate website has become a necessary undertaking. Currently, XYZ Company is struggling with how it interacts with potential and existing customers. In addition, the company needs to enhance its brand image by communicating to customers about the brand and what it entails. Establishing an accessible and functional website would solve this problem. According to Bleier et al. (2019), affective responses to a company’s products can be enhanced by effective customer interaction with the company on online platforms. Also, most companies that are customer-centered have realized the need for a corporate website. MacDonald (2021) reveals that approximately 58% of customer-centered companies have embraced digital platforms as a means of increasing their interactions with their customers. A website is a good place to start.
Project Objectives
* To improve customer interaction
* To build the brand image
* To provide informative content about the company and its products
* To generate more sales leads
Project Methodology
               To achieve the above-stated objectives, a team of website designers will be deployed to create a functional, accessible, and user-friendly website. As revealed by Ageeva et al. (2018), websites are the primary interface with customers that most companies have. It needs to be simple and easy to use. The team will create a system that allows the website to stay updated about available stock and prices of items.
               To improve customer interaction, the website will have a page that has contact information for the head office as well as other company stores in different locations. This page will allow customers to contact the company with inquiries and receive instant feedback. According to Rangaswamy, et al. (2020), for effective interaction to occur, the design should allow openness. Customers should be able to contact the company through the website. Also, the website will have a section where customers can engage in a live chat with the company’s online support team. There will also be a section where customers can participate in online surveys about the company and its products.
               To build the brand image, the website will have a “Who We Are” page that details the company’s history, values, mission, and vision. Customers’ perception of a company is important and the kind of content published on the website will provide information that can create a positive perception of the brand. Ageeva et al. (2018) indicate that websites can improve the brand image because consumers assume that the website and the information published on them is a representation of the entire company. If the mission and vision of the company are to provide innovative solutions, this should be clear on the “Who We Are” web page and would help shape consumers’ perception of the company. The company’s history would also show consumers what the company has been about and how it has remained consistent with its mission and vision over the years.
               To provide informative content about the company and its products, the website will have a blog where the company can communicate with existing and potential customers about the company and its products. The blog will provide consumers with positive content not only in terms of products and services but also about success stories that can help improve the brand image.
               To generate more sales leads and increase overall sales, the website will have an online platform that allows customers to view current products and purchase them. This platform will also facilitate online payments for purchased goods. Rangaswamy, et al. (2020), posits that for online purchases to be effective, the payment process should be fast, reliable, and easy. Consumers are more likely to come back for a second online purchase if they had a painless payment process.
Project Risk Management
Below are the major risks that might occur at any point in the project’s life cycle:
1 Underestimation of time and resources that the company needs to invest in the project
2 Unforeseen extra feature requests management
3 Cross-platform Incompatibility
               The risks, however, can be managed. First, the company needs to understand that it will need to commit considerable time and resources to the project (Kumar et al., 2018). The best way to ensure that it remains committed throughout the project is to assign specific human resources to the project and give them enough time to handle the assignment. Also, the company can want additional features on the website mid-project. Making such requests can take the project back because they would require additional time and possibly, resources (Kumar et al., 2018). To manage such a risk, any extra feature request made by the management will have to be evaluated and its benefits and drawbacks weighed. There is no need of adding extra features if the feature will have little effect on the overall functionality and accessibility of the website but have major effects on the project in terms of time and resources required. Further, as Kumar et al. (2018...
