Participatory planning
Participatory planning is one of the managing approaches that has proved to be effective in the planning projects and interventions that facilitate community development (Rabinowitz, 2013). This approach has been used in both rural and urban settings. Participatory planning provides room where all the stakeholders' views are heard and harmonized, including those opposing each other, to ensure joint ownership of the community development project by all. This approach ensures inclusivity where even the marginalized groups have an equal say on the table like the rest (Rabinowitz, 2013).
One of my close friends happens to be highly engaged in projects meant to improve the lives of poor people in our country. In one of his projects, they were informed about a certain street in the suburbs of Los Angeles that had many homeless people begging for food from by-passers, and the situation had caused an increase in crime in the area.
