This week’s lecture describes the advantages and disadvantages of using Kirkpatrick’s taxonomy. As an HR employee tasked with creating and evaluating a training course for your organization, how would you use Kirkpatrick’s taxonomy to evaluate the training? What could you do to minimize the disadvantages of the tool?

Kirkpatrick’s taxonomy would be extremely useful in evaluating the training. According to Kopp (2014), the four-level evaluation standard helps in illustrating the impact of each level of training on both the trainee and the organization. In level 1, I would evaluate whether the employees enjoyed the training. I would use an evaluation form that would ask whether they found the training engaging, worthwhile, and satisfactory, and whether they enjoyed the instructor’s methods of delivery. Other relevant questions in level 1 evaluation would revolve around their reactions to the venue, timing, amenities, and the training program. Level 2 focuses on measuring the extent to which employees learned from the training program (Kopp, 2014).
