The paper explores on students communication in online classes. E-learning is an approach used worldwide for students who cannot attend classes physically. It is convenient and has helped many people maneuver through studies as well as work, since the studies do not require full time physical presence. However, the research paper seeks to establish the determinants of a successful online course completion. The primary factors under consideration are comparison of performance for active online participants and the read-only participants. To comprehensively address the issue, others factors have been factored in, such as facilitator’s participation, inadvertent non-participation, rate of online response and frequency in online participation among others.
The research questions discussed are; what was the relationship between online participation and learning as well as successful course completion? What influence did participation have on the learning community? (Nagel, Blignaut, & Cronje, 2009).
